The summer may be over, but the effects are still lingering. The drought that seared through the Midwest this summer is the reason that beef prices have increased between 5.5% – 6.5%. The drought ruined the crops and grass that are used to feed livestock, hence the rise in prices. Even next year, meat is likely to cost 3% – 4% more- since the drought’s effects are slow and likely to become more apparent as the New Year starts.
